Support Us

You can support Safe Haven Orphanage in many ways. Every contribution helps and is hugely appreciated. It only costs a few hundred US dollars a month to feed and clothe the children, as well as pay for their education. The other main costs of running the orphanage go on things like building repairs, prevention of Malaria and other diseases prevalent in the area, and general hospital bills and medical treatment. Following are some ways you can help the children…

How far your gift goes

  • $6 USD buys one case of milk – very high priority.
  • $30 USD buys 45kg (100 pounds) of high grade, nutritious rice – our highest priority right now.
  • $50 USD buys enough fruit/vegetables to feed 60 children for a week.
  • $600 USD sponsors a child to attend the local Thai public school including transportation, uniforms, school materials and tuition for one year

Donate other things

Everything is appreciated but the children have a particular need for clothes, books (in English, Thai, Karen & Burmese) and school equipment (exercise books, stationery). They also appreciate board games & anything to do with sports – especially soccer/football!

Adoption

All the children from Safe Haven Orphanage are from Burma and are not Thai nationals, and are therefore ineligible for adoption. If you are looking to adopt from the region we suggest that you check out WACAP (World Association for Children and Parents www.wacap.org – please note Safe Haven has no affiliation with WACAP), who do adoptions through local orphanages and the Thai government. Please keep in mind that if you are looking to adopt a Burmese child, please make sure you do a thorough check of the agency doing the adoption as there is no adoption from Burma internal and some agencies employ unethical methods to obtain children from Burma.

We also believe at Safe Haven, that even though the ‘West’ may seem to offer the children a lot more than they currently have, in the long term, the children are better off living with their many brothers and sisters in a loving family atmosphere and in a culture and lifestyle that they know and allow them to grow and be active and valuable participants in their communities.

Sponsorship

We welcome people who would like to sponsor one of the children at Safe Haven. A sponsorship of 2000 baht (approx. $60USD) per month goes a long way to ensuring that they are provided with good food, medical care, shelter and an education. This sponsorship money is not only used for the child that you choose to sponsor but also shared with their brothers and sisters at Safe Haven so that all the children benefit from your valued support.
